Fort Kent boys advance to C North final with win over Mount View

FORT KENT, Maine – The boys at Fort Kent Community High School head to the North Class C Regional Championships after a 3-1 semifinal victory over Mount View High School in Fort Kent on Friday.

The No.2 Warriors (14-2 overall) will face seeded Orono (14-0-1 overall) in the Regional Class C North game.

“Mount View is a good team; I watched them several times. I knew it wouldn’t be an easy game, but I knew my boys’ talent, their potential and their determination and if they did what needed to be done they could beat Mount View, ”said Fort coach. Kent, Kalusha Kotes.

Fort Kent came out strong after less than four minutes of play when Austin Delisle took advantage of a corner kick from Warrior Kaden Theriault to direct the ball into the goal.

The Mustangs responded quickly with an unassisted Noah Hurd goal to tie the game, but only temporarily.

An unassisted goal from Wil Roy gave Fort Kent a 2-1 lead before the half. Roy scored another goal in the last half of the game to secure the victory for Fort Kent.

“This game has shown our true potential and that it is possible to go all the way,” said Kotes.

The Mount View number 3 ended his season 16-1 overall.
