Haunted attraction, based on the works of Shakespeare, opens this weekend in Lincoln

“We’re going to scare you in Shakespeare.”

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The University of Nebraska-Lincoln temple building will turn into a haunted house experience this spooky season.

It will be a mix of theater and traditional haunted attractions, put on by the Nebraska Repertory Theater.

The haunted experience will take place inside the theater of the Temple building near 12th and R streets on the UNL campus.

The production and characters are based on the works of Shakespeare.

The set took nine months to create and includes smoke, flashing lights, and laser effects throughout the experience.

According to UNL, this haunted attraction will be the first within Lincoln city limits due to strict fire regulations.

‘ShakesFear’ will run from October 15 to 31.

The show is recommended for people 13 years of age and over.

“It’s really so cool. I love that it’s very immersive, but there is also so much to adapt to because each group is going to come at different speeds, ”said Trace Harre, a theatrical performance major at UNL. . “As actors we have to adapt to a lot of things for each group and you cannot treat each group the same as the others. And so that it keeps us on our toes. But it’s fun and it really appeals to us as actors.
